چکیده

This paper deals with the numerical computation of the structural and acoustic response of a building to an incoming wave field generated by high-speed surface railway traffic. The source model consists of a moving vehicle on a longitudinally invariant track, coupled to a layered ground modelled with a boundary element formulation. The receiver model is based on a substructuring formulation and consists of a boundary element model of the soil and a finite element model of the structure. The acoustic response of the building’s rooms is computed by means of a spectral finite element formulation. The paper investigates the structural and acoustic response of a multi-story portal frame office building up to a frequency of 150Hz to the passage of a Thalys high-speed train at constant velocity. The isolation performance of three different vibration countermeasures: a floating-floor, a room-in-room, and base-isolation, are examined. r 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Effect of Rail Corrugation on the Amount of Train Induced Vibrations near a Historical Building

The evaluation and control of the trains induced vibrations needs even more attention in the case of underground tracks which passes near to monuments and historical sites. The rail corrugations which occur due to the wheels’ impulse loads during the operation period of underground railway tracks, usually amplify the ground borne noise and vibration. In the current study, the mentioned phenomen...

Analysis of Structural Vibrations due to Passage of Underground Trains

During the last decades, the railway traffic in densely populated areas has increased. At the same time, passenger trains have become faster and freight trains have become heavier. Consequently, trains are an increasing source of ground vibration, which may be a nuisance to people, buildings and sensitive equipment. In this research, a two-dimensional dynamic system, including underground train...

Floating Track Slab Systems for Reducing Ground- Borne Noise and Vibration from Rail Vehicles

This investigation explores both the theoretical and empirical modelling of the dynamic performance of floating slab track systems used for reducing groundborne noise and vibration from rail transit systems. Accurately predicting the performance of floating slab track systems is important to the success of a new rail project. In general it has been observed that analytical and numerical models ...

Calculation of re-radiated noise in buildings, generated by underground rail traffic

The vibration generated by railway traffic causes complaints not only about sensible vibration levels, but about significant noise levels in the building lying beside or above rail lines. Therefore numerical methods to predict the effect of train passbys are very important to possess and to develop. This paper presents a new numerical prediction method based on the Rayleigh radiation integral w...

Influences of Railway Track Geometry Parameters on Ground-Borne Vibration

One of the most important challenges in the development of urban railways network is the effects of railway vibrations on human and adjacent structures. Although various investigations into the sources of railway vibrations have been conducted, very few research works have been reported on the influences of track geometry parameters on the level of vibrations. This is addressed in this resea...
